HOW TO PERFORM A LEAK TEST

When should a leak test be performed?

1. Before lighting your BBQ for the first time, especially if the grill was purchased pre-assembled
2. Every time the propane cylinder is refilled
3. Every time a tank is replaced
4. Every time gas components are replaced
5. At the start of every season and a minimum of once per season
6. After prolonged period of storage or non-use
7. If the regulator Flow Limiting Device has been activated.
8. If the BBQ is difficult to light or you smell gas
9. If burner performance is irregular or poor

Please Note: Ensure your families safety by visually inspecting your barbecues gas line on a regular basis, to ensure it is not damaged by either pets or rodents.

What you will need:

1. A mixture of 50% liquid dish soap and 50% water
2. A paint brush or spray bottle to apply the mixture

Test Connections

• All propane cylinder welds, hand wheel, and connections
• Regulator and propane cylinder connection
• Natural Gas Hose and connections
• All hose connections between the manifold, side burner and propane cylinder

Attention: Perform leak test in a well ventilated area away from any open flame, heat or ignition source.

How to Conduct a Leak Test

1. Create a mixture of 50% water and 50% liquid dishwashing soap.
2. Open the lid
3. Ensure all control knobs are in the "OFF"/ closed position
4. Open the valve on your propane cylinder 1 turn, or turn the main natural gas valve on.
5. Apply the soap water mixture onto all test connections outlined above.
6. Check for growing bubbles, which indicates that a leak is present
7. If a leak is found, turn OFF the propane valve. Tighten any leaking connection and repeat test until no leaks are detected.
